COOKING

YUM!

As a Chef, I am exceptionally attentive to the quality of the food I eat.  Everything I cook is Organic, all natural, GMO free, and minimally processed.  No hormones and no antibiotics.  Pasture raised and certified as sustainable.  I often eat Raw, Vegetarian or Vegan and have cooked this way for years.  Cooking inside a Tiny Home can be challenging, however it is TOTALLY POSSIBLE to eat healthy and eat well in any situation.  Let me share some of my tips and systems with you!
As a Chef I appreciate being able to cook over a flame.  This Coleman single burner runs off canned butane.  It's the closest to cooking with natural gas.  This burner is so handy.  It's dirt cheap at about $20 and a can of butane fuel runs about 2 bucks.  Love it!

I bought a 12 pack of these butane cannisters.  They last forever and at about $2 per can it's cheap fuel.  So convenient!

This induction hotplate is wicked cool, it runs off electricity which means I can power it 100% with Solar power.  This hotplate uses electromagnetic energy to heat the pan.  In tests it heats a pan and reaches cooking temperature almost 50% faster than cooking over a flame.   It requires you to use a magnetic pan, like a cast iron skillet for example.

The "Lodge" cast iron brand has been around FOREVER.  These pans are nearly indestructible.  Their only weakness is water...which makes them rust.  They are so versatile and easy to maintain.  Watch a few YouTube videos on how to season them properly to naturally develop that non-stick surface.  I use a 10.25 inch pan.

This is the Lodge cast iron lid to fit the 10.25 inch skillet pictured above.  There is also a clear glass lid available but I wanted something durable and the cast iron lid is nearly indestructible.  It fits the pan like a hand fits a glove.

This nice teapot is perfect to boil water.  I am a herbal tea drinker and there's nothing better than hot tea to get through the Maryland Winter.  This teapot works perfectly over my Coleman butane stovetop.  If you want to boil water over your induction stove get a magnetic teapot...or use the microwave!  I also find it best to get a smaller size teapot...single serving and Tiny-Sized!

These silicon coated high temperature oven mitts are super awesome.  As a Chef I use them at work and when cooking in my Tiny Home I use them to handle my Lodge skillet after it has gotten hot.  These mitts also came with a bonus--a round silicon high temperature grippy mat.  I use this to grab the handle of my Lodge skillet...the cast iron conducts heat quickly and the skillet handle gets very hot.  Use the grippy mat or the oven mitts to handle your Lodge skillet safely!

Having a set of stainless steel tongs is a necessity when cooking.  These work great with my Lodge skillet.  Just the perfect tool to flip a steak or to mix around some quinoa I've boiled.

If there is only one eating utensil on the planet that I would ever want to use...it's this titanium spork.  These things are awesome!  A one piece spork....made from titanium!  Enough said !!!  I received one as a gift and I've cherished it ever since!

Victorinox makes affordable, great quality knives.  I ALWAYS keep a paring knife around...in fact I carry one on me at all times while at work...so naturally I have several of these handy in my Tiny House.  This is really the only knife I use daily while in my Tiny Home.

Here we have a 8" Chef's knife by Victorinox.  Again, it's got OUTSTANDING reviews and is super affordable.  I use this type of knife daily at work.  I keep one handy in my Tiny Home for those big cutting jobs.

This cutting board is Farberware--the top selling cutting board in the USA and has near perfect ratings.  It's just the right size 12"x18" to use in my Tiny Home.  It's a one piece moulded plastic design.  Easy to clean, sanitize and store.

This device looks like a toilet paper dispenser, but it's actually a paper towel dispenser.  Really, aren't they the same thing?  I bolted one above my kitchenette in my Tiny House.  It dispenses paper towels perfectly.

These Bounty paper towels are big rolls.  They are the top pick through Prime Pantry (Amazon).  I buy a pack of 4 to 6 mega rolls.  I use paper towels for EVERYTHING.  I do a lot of cleaning inside my Tiny Home.  One roll fits perfectly on my paper towel dispenser...see above photo.
